Proper Cannabis Seedling Care

Proper Cannabis Seedling Care

Professor DeBacco

At Emergence
As soon as the seed emerges it is important to ensure proper care to allow for continued plant development.

The same basic conditions of the germination process can initially be maintained, but changes should be made gradually to ensure a strong and quality seedling is produced.

Temperature 68⁰F-77⁰F (20⁰C-25⁰C)
Keeping plants slightly cooler than during the germination process is advised.

Also, as is typically the case during the dark (lights off) period the temperature can be decreased to around 65⁰F (18⁰C).

Having this temperature drop can help reduce internode spacing (stretching) and keep plants stocky and not leggy (weak and thin).

Relative Humidity
As the plants grow the humidity levels will be decreased overtime typically reaching a target of 65% RH.

This reduces the water stress on the plant and allows time for the root system to become more robust.

If the very tip of fan leaves is burning then it is likely because of lack of humidity or temperature/light stress

Light
The intensity of light should be increased as the seedling develops to match the levels it will be exposed to in the main growing environment

If going outdoors than light exposure should be increased to natural sunlight levels.
Shade netting is commonly used of different precents to ease the transition of the seedlings to the intensity of natural light levels.

If going indoor than light exposure should be increased to chosen PAR levels for the Veg room.
This can be done by dimming lights (if an option) or by adjusting (decreasing) the distance between plants and light to alter the intensify the plants are exposed to.

Proper Water Technique
Fine nozzle should be used and kept inverted to allow for a natural rain fall-like impact on the seedlings.

Keep moving to ensure all seedlings get exposure and the tray can hold some water reserves to avoid seedling desiccation.

Why is it so difficult to get medicinal cannabis in the UK? – BBC News

Since it was legalised five years ago hardly any patients in the UK have been prescribed medical cannabis.

Used to treat a number of medical conditions, the Government has been accused of misleading the public over its availability on the NHS.

Campaigners say an exception has been made for a few patients but others are being forcing to fund it themselves, go without or turn to the black market.

The UK government says safety needs to be proven before a wider rollout.

Secret Tapes Reveal Nixon’s Views on Marijuana

Two years after launching the war on drugs, President Richard Nixon made a startling admission during a meeting in the Oval Office. He said that marijuana was “not particularly dangerous.” The remarks, captured by the former president’s secret recording system, bolster the notion that the criminalization of marijuana was driven by politics. Ernesto Londoño, a New York Times reporter who covers drug use and counternarcotics policy, explains.

Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana- Edibles- Orally ingestible Medical Marijuana “Edibles”

If you’re looking for alternative options to smoking or vaping your medical marijuana this is a good option. In Pennsylvania patients can not purchase edibles like brownies or gummies in the dispensary. There are different options such as distillate that is a more refined oil, Full Extracted Cannabis Oil “FECO” or Rick Simpson oil (Rso). These can come in syringe form, Tincture or in a Pill / Capslue

Where Did the Cannabis Plant Come From?

Though cannabis’s wild beginnings remain unknown, by looking at the plant’s genes, scientists can identify its closest living relative.

“Hops, which we use for beer, is the closest existing species to cannabis,” says Cornell University Emerging Crops Specialist Daniela Vergara. Plant geneticists estimate that some 28 million years ago, cannabis and hops plants diverged. Today, cannabis contains special compounds called cannabinoids that its relatives lack. Two of these compounds are THC, which results in a high, and CBD. The development of cannabinoids may have helped protect cannabis from UV light or from being eaten, though researchers aren’t yet sure.

Some ancient communities, including the Chinese, Romans, Greeks, and Indians, utilized cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes.

The Best Ways to Preserve Your Weed | MERRY JANE News

Subscribe to the MERRY JANE Newsletter for the latest video release and everything cannabis: https://goo.gl/Yc7jSN

A true wine connoisseur will take special precautions when it comes to storing their wine, so why should a weed specialist be any different when it comes to preserving their nugs?

Gone are the days of hiding weed in sandwich baggies or in shoeboxes under the bed. Cannabis deserves better than that, and so do you. Storing pot in the right conditions will help it keep its taste longer, and protect it from the elements that will deteriorate its quality (like heat). And we’re not talking about keeping your marijuana good for just an extra week or two—with some of these methods, your nugs can remain fresh for years after you purchased it. But the best thing about it? You can purchase many of these storage systems without breaking the bank, and once you have everything together, you’ll have the extra benefit of having your collection organized, just like those fancy winos out there.

So check out our in-depth look at storage options above, and get your weed the protection it needs.

Visually Timing a Cannabis Plants Peak Harvest

Visually Timing a Cannabis Plants Peak Harvest

Professor DeBacco

Plant Parts to Consider
Stigmas
Trichomes
Size/Development

Stigmas
A female part of the flower. It is the sticky where the pollen lands and starts the fertilization process.
In cannabis this structure looks like these fine white fuzzy structures that look like a whisker.

Trichomes
Trichomes are small mushroom shaped glands that are responsible for producing cannabinoids and terpenes.
Coat the surface having a resin provides a frontline defense against fungus, insects and hungry herbivores.

Bud Size and Development
On a plant there will be variability in the buds on the plant.
The goal is to produce large and dense buds consistently on a plant, which can be influenced by light exposure to the bud.
To maximize production pruning style and harvest process play a role on the final product.
