Joe Rogan: Harris wanted to avoid marijuana legalization talk as aides feared progressive backlash

Joe Rogan claimed the Harris-Walz campaign drew a red line on talk about “marijuana legalization” for the interview that never happened — while aides said the sit-down was kiboshed over fears of progressive backlash.

“I think they had requirements on things that she didn’t want to talk about. She didn’t want to talk about marijuana legalization, which I thought was hilarious,” the popular podcaster revealed on his Tuesday episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

The Harris-Walz campaign had reached out to Rogan’s management about doing an interview with him after it broke that President-elect Donald Trump would go on the highly-rated podcast, according to Rogan, 57.

Florida voters reject Amendment 3 to legalize recreational marijuana

A $150 million-plus effort to allow recreational use of marijuana in Florida fizzled out Tuesday, falling short of the needed 60 percent voter approval and delivering a major victory for Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trulieve, the state’s largest medical-marijuana operator, pumped nearly $144.6 million into the proposed constitutional amendment. The Quincy-based company’s contributions made up more than 94 percent of the overall total of $152.27 million in cash raised by the Smart & Safe Florida political committee that sponsored the measure, which appeared as Amendment 3 on the ballot.

The Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has made a significant drug seizure at Hyderabad Airport, confiscating 7.096 kg of hydroponic weed (marijuana) valued at ₹7 crore in the illicit market. Upon inspecting their check-in luggage, authorities discovered 13 vacuum-packed transparent packets cleverly concealed within chocolate wrappers. Testing confirmed the presence of a greenish, lumpy substance, which tested positive for marijuana.Following the seizure, the two passengers were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 and have been remanded to judicial custody. The DRI is continuing its investigation to uncover further details surrounding this significant drug trafficking incident.

Weed was the real winner of the 2020 election

Americans are turning against the war on drugs.

Watch more of our election coverage: http://vox.com/ElectionVideos

On November 3, four American states voted to legalize marijuana: Arizona, New Jersey, Montana and South Dakota. Combined with the other states that have done so in recent years, one in three Americans now live in a state where access to marijuana has been legalized. It shows that Americans are souring on the harsh drug policies that have put millions of people in prison.

But America’s national drug policy is a different story. Under federal law, marijuana is still classified as a “schedule 1” drug, meaning it’s considered to have little medical value and a high risk of abuse, along with drugs like LSD, heroin, ecstasy and psilocybin mushrooms. In states where marijuana has been legalized, that conflict with federal law creates numerous problems for legal marijuana sellers and users. And few national politicians talk about legalizing marijuana throughout the country. But advocates are hoping that by introducing new state laws one by one, Americans who are ready to move on from the country’s decades-long war on drugs will eventually force the federal government’s hand.

Florida Marijuana Legalization | Election Day Coverage 2016

Marijuana will now be legal in Florida. Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. https://www.tytnetwork.com/join

“Voters in Florida today handily approved a medical marijuana proposal that was narrowly defeated just two years ago. With 66 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press has declared that Amendment 2 has passed with 71 percent support. Constitutional amendments require 60 percent support to win at the ballot box in Florida.

It is the first in a string of state measures on ballots Tuesday aimed at legalizing medical or recreational use.

Two years ago a nearly-identical measure in Florida earned 58 percent of the vote, just shy of the 60 percent threshold. Then, as now, opposition to the measure was fueled by multi-million dollar donations from Sheldon Adelson, the Las Vegas casino magnate and GOP donor. In 2014 Adelson spent $5.5 million to defeat the measure. This year he’s spent $1.5 million in Florida, and several million more to defeat recreational marijuana measures in other states.”*
