Rolling out Florida’s medical marijuana legalization effort has been slow for many reasons. One reason that lawmakers have pointed to is a lack of research and data. Lawmakers and industry experts say the lack of research is largely because the federal government has continued to categorize marijuana as a schedule one drug.

This presentation will show how Florida and other states have adapted to legislation so everyone can have more research on the positive and negative effects of marijuana for people who are ill.

Some other topics discussed will be…

1) Overview of Florida Medical Marijuana Law
2) Update on regulatory changes
3) Effects on Medical Marijuana on Florida healthcare businesses
4) The future of Medical Marijuana and Recreational Marijuana in Florida
5) Business opportunities for health care operators and support businesses

Medical marijuana and children don't mix, most Americans say

Dr. Matthew M. Davis, director of the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health, talks about the first poll measuring the public’s views about the use of medical marijuana for children compared to adults. While nearly two-thirds of people agree that their state should allow medical marijuana for adults, half as many – just over a third – say it should be allowed for children. Eighty percent of respondents go even further, saying adults shouldn’t be allowed to use medical marijuana in front of kids

Shaping Fire Ep. 44 – Cannabis Seeds, Sharing and Public Patents with Alan from Strainly

Sharing cannabis seeds is essential to the preservation of the plant and our access to it. Forces are gathering to make legal challenges to many of the present over-broad cannabis patents. While others are looking at ways the cannabis community can agree to informal, yet legally enforceable public patents to help defend heritage chemovars. On this episode of Shaping Fire, host Shango Los speaks with Alan from Strainly about cannabis seed sharing, alternatives to USPTO plant patents and a new online community of seed traders. https://www.strainly.io/ For more cannabis coverage visit https://www.ShapingFire.com
