Here’s where Indiana’s Governor candidates stand on marijuana legalization

During Thursday’s Governor debate at the WISH-TV studios, the candidates clashed over the issue of marijuana legalization, revealing significant differences in approach and philosophy.

Democratic candidate Jennifer McCormick favors a gradual, regulated rollout with law enforcement involvement, while Libertarian candidate Donald Rainwater called for swift and broad legalization with minimal regulation. Differing from both of his opponents, Republican candidate Mike Braun took a more cautious stance offering his openness to medical marijuana, but expressing concerns over a broader recreational legalization.

Cannabis Use Pt. 1 #cannabisnews #cannabisdaily #mcmasteruniversity #shorts #research

It’s been 5 years since cannabis was legalized for recreational use in Canada.

While it is legal, using cannabis is not without harm or risk.

James MacKillop is the director of the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Medicinal Cannabis Research at McMaster University, director of the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and a professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences.

MacKillop says there are many myths about cannabis and cannabis use, one of the most common being cannabis is not addictive.

Among those who use cannabis, roughly one in 10 develop cannabis use disorder (CUD), says MacKillop. The rate doubles in people who start using early as teenagers and increases to as high as 50 per cent among those who use cannabis daily.

While there’s no amount of cannabis known to have a lethal effect, overconsumption can lead to negative consequences like delirium or psychosis.

MacKillop adds that an important nuance is most negative consequences happen to a subset of people who use cannabis heavily, frequently and products that are high in Delta 9 THC – the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

MacKillop says this video is not about being pro-cannabis or anti-cannabis but about empowering people to make good decisions based on the facts.

Watering less allows your plants to grow more in search for water , and also allows you the ability to add more water later if it wasn’t enough . You can always give more , but its more difficult to take back .

Giving your plants less light intensity can allow for less stress , sometimes running high intensity lights on 100% , you are actually pushing your plants much harder than you need to.

I have found myself at times doing a little too much , especially as someone who makes videos and content , it begins to add up quickly between life , relationships , work , and so on . Whether it may be too many plants , too many tents , breeding , or different grow styles and techniques .

It’s important to try new things , but in moderation . If you start a new run , maybe try 1 or 2 new methods or techniques things to add , rather than trying to reinvent the wheel .

Environment is the key to any successful run . You could have the greatest , highest quality strain or clone in the world , and if your environment isn’t within the ideal parameters , it simply will not turn out good . Whether it be too much heat , too much humidity , too much fluctuation , these are where almost all problems start in grows . Proper environment leads to higher quality , higher yield , and better runs .

Cannabis is simply just a plant . It will grow and do it’s thing regardless of how much time you spend , or effect you try to have on it . It can be better to sometimes step away, and allow it to grow how it needs , because the plant knows best . You can sometimes create more problems growing by defoliating too much , or babying every little thing , when really all we have to do is give them the right environment and let them grow .

As I mentioned before , genetics are going to be a huge factor in the success of your grow , it could mean whether or not you actually even make it to harvest. Simply put , there are genetics and strains that are known to be unstable or finicky , and if you are a grower just starting out , I would highly recommend to avoid those .

Something else I have learned is that you truly to do not need the best of the best to get started . If you are just growing 1 or 2 plants , there are plenty of grow lights , tents , and equipment on the market that are cheap and will be absolutely fine for personal growing . You should be able to get your first run going for less than $500 .

When harvesting & drying , you will hear everyone say the same thing . cloudy trichomes , hang dry for 10-14 days . I rarely check the trichomes until AFTER harvest .

For drying I aim for 60% humidity , for just about as long as I can go. But once a plant is dry you need to be ready to trim , regardless if it is day 7 or day 12. Once dry I remove the buds from the jar for 20-30 mins a day until there is no smell of chlorophyll .

I prefer to have a little more moisture and burp it , than drying too much to begin with .

Personally something I have noticed and need to improve on , is feeding young plants and seedlings more . I myself underestimated just how important it is for strengthening your plants branches and helping overall health and yield .

When starting out in organics , I learned that more soil is better . Its much easier to keep a happy plant in a larger container when doing organics .

For me when I started , I tried growing in 3 and 5 gallon pots , and my plants were not as happy or healthy as they are now .

When you are growing with bottle nuts , you simply mix up whatever amount of teaspoons or ML per gallon , and feed your plant . Hit them with some cal mag and up the feeding. If you overfeed , simply flush your plants .

In organic , it’s not quite so simple . The goal is actually to feed the plants through the soil , And as a lot of you will probably already know , it takes time for organic material to break down and become food for a plant .

How To Identify Male and Female Cannabis Flowers

How To Identify Male and Female Cannabis Flowers

Professor DeBacco

Pre-Flowers
Growers should first look at the nodes (junction of leaves/branches and the stalks of the plant).
Pre-flowers begin to develop 4-6 weeks into the growing cycle at the nodes and during this time growers should be able to identify the gender of the plant as male or female.
These are immature flowers and will show the male or female morphology well before they are able to produce viable components for seed production.
Removing males at this time will help ensure no chance of accidental pollination will occur.
Male pre-flowers: Look for small pollen sacs
Female pre-flowers: Look for two stigmas (typically white)

Female Plants
Females are the plants that will produce the cannabinoids in the greatest concentrations in the flowers.
If female plants receive pollen from male plants seeds will be produced which will drastically reduce cannabinoid production.
Cannabis is grown via sinsemilla (“seedless”) by removing male pollen producing plants to prevent seed production.
This allows for the cannabis plant to focus its energy on cannabinoid production instead of seeds.
Female plants will only be pollinated to produce seeds for breeding purposes.

Male Plants
Male cannabis plants grow pollen sacs instead of buds and are often discarded to avoid female plants from being pollinated.
Males are important in the breeding process
Pollinating male plants shape, rate of growth, pest and mold resistance, and climate resilience can important for breeding purposes.
Male plants can also be used for:
Hemp fiber and in some cases concentrate production but concentration is much less than female plants.
