Former AG Bill Barr Enters Cannabis Rescheduling Fight | TDR Cannabis in 5

If you’re ever injured in an accident, Morgan & Morgan makes it simple to take action. You can start a claim online in just minutes without leaving your couch. To learn more, visit https://www.forthepeople.com/TDR.

Is the latest legal challenge to cannabis rescheduling actually a real threat — or just another attempt to slow the clock?

In today’s episode of TDR Cannabis in Five presented by Flowhub, the focus turns to a headline that grabbed attention fast: an anti-cannabis group has hired former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr in an effort to block federal cannabis rescheduling. On the surface, it sounds serious. Big name. Legal pressure. Lawsuit language.

But when the context is unpacked, the impact looks far more limited than the headline suggests.

According to reporting from Marijuana Moment, the group Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) has brought Barr into a familiar strategy they’ve used for years — litigation aimed at delaying reform. This isn’t a new playbook, and it doesn’t signal new political leverage with the current administration. In fact, Bill Barr and President Donald Trump have not been aligned for years, which undercuts the idea that this move brings inside access or influence.

More importantly, cannabis rescheduling isn’t being driven by politics alone. It’s being driven by data — medical use, decades of research, state-level legalization, and federal agency reviews. The Department of Health and Human Services didn’t recommend rescheduling based on opinion, but on evidence.

Legal challenges may slow timelines, but they don’t erase the scientific foundation behind the decision. From an investor and market perspective, this looks less like a reversal risk and more like procedural noise.

The process continues. The data stands. And momentum remains rooted in reality, not rhetoric.

Is Medical Marijuana Too Strong?

“My brother is a weed scientist. Every weekday morning, he drives to work in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, throws on a lab coat with “Northwest Botanical Analysis” stitched over the pocket, and starts putting tiny samples of ganja through a gas chromatography machine, among other gadgets.* He tells breeders and the “dispensaries” that that currently distribute pot under the local medical marijuana system the potency of their various colorfully named strains as well as the relative amounts of the many subtly different compounds, called cannabinoids and terpenes, that make each one a different experience to smoke. He checks for mites, pesticides, and mold (a common problem with bud grown in Seattle’s damp basements). These days, he’s talking to the state Liquor Control Board as it works on the rules and regulations for retail sales of dope starting later this year.”*

Is medicinal marijuana too strong? Some say yes, that it’s too much for them to use on a more casual basis, and that they want a much softer high from it. Is there a market for more subtle strains? Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola (TYT University), and Desi Doyen (Green News Report) discuss.

What Trump’s marijuana reclassification means for patients and research

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule III controlled substance, marking a major shift in federal drug policy.

The move removes marijuana from the most restrictive category of drugs, formally recognizing its medical use and lower potential for abuse. While the order does not legalize marijuana nationwide, it could ease restrictions on medical research, expand patient access and reshape the cannabis industry.

Experts say rescheduling may also open the door to insurance coverage, banking access and tax deductions for marijuana businesses.

NY’s legal cannabis shops reach new high, more than doubling in a year

💨 The number of legal cannabis shops in New York State nearly doubled in a year, reaching a new high of more than 550 shops, state regulators said Friday.

The state’s Office of Cannabis Management said 556 licensed adult-use dispensaries had opened in the state as of Nov. 30., nearly doubling from the 261 dispensaries in 2024.

About a third of the dispensaries, more than 200, have opened in New York City.

Legal sales of cannabis have topped $2.5 billion since legalization in 2021, generating more than $360 million in tax revenue for the state.

“It’s a great thing,” said Ajaie Gibson, co-founder of Nonna Farms, adding the state has turned things around following an initially rocky rollout.

Osbert Orduña, the owner of Cannabis Place in Middle Village, said that while “it’s a good thing overall,” disabled veterans who were supposed to be given priority have also been smoked out, “lost in application queues that have thousands and thousands of applicants.”

What the federal marijuana policy shift means for cannabis use and research

President Trump signed an executive order reclassifying the federal status of marijuana, categorizing it as a drug with less potential for harm and dependence. It’s a major shift in policy that could have wide-ranging effects on cannabis use and research. William Brangham discussed more with Beau Kilmer of the RAND Drug Policy Research Center.

Still no medical marijuana license for Black farmer

The Department of Health is under fire because it has still not issued a medical marijuana license to a Black farmer. Lawmakers grilled the department to find out what is responsible for the delay on Thursday. When the Legislature passed its medical marijuana law in 2017, one grower’s license was reserved for a Black farmer.

Easy cannabis chocolate bites / quick & easy edibles

Hi guys!

Let’s cut to the chase: cannabutter is not hard to make.
I did the following:
Grind 2gr of plant
In a tin foil lined tray bake in the oven at 120 degrees celsius for 30 mins
Melt butter on lowest heat and add “cooked” plant, add 25/50ml water and leave on lowest heat for 40 mins to an hour as the quantity is small.
Stirring occasionally.I am personally not bothered by the bits so decide for yourself if you wanna strain it at the end or not.
That is it!
From there follow the steps in the video.
I used 3 bars of dark chocolate and 125gr butter.
**These need to be kept refrigerated as they will melt! **

Hope you find this recipe helpful,it’s just quick and easy.
For educational purposes only.
