It’s worthwhile getting something that can help you see the trichomes. It’s the only real way to know when to harvest. Even then, be careful what equipment you use. For example, my cheap USB microscope/endoscope is very picky about its platform and cable positioning. Even so, it’s useful for zooming in on the trichomes and seeing how many amber, clear, and cloudy trichomes there are.
Harvest when 10-30% of the trichomes are amber for a nice balance. Harvest when they’re mostly cloudy for a heady high. The more amber trichomes there are the more of a couch-lock you will get.
