At first glance, the poll looks pretty straightforward. Fifty-two percent of respondents don’t think rescheduling gets done this year, while 48% believe it will. But as Shadd points out, the bigger takeaway isn’t necessarily the split itself—it’s what those numbers say about how the public views the federal process.
The reality is most Americans understand legalization, but far fewer understand rescheduling. Between the DEA, HHS, FDA, DOJ, the Administrative Law Judge hearing and the federal rulemaking process, it’s a complicated system that most people simply don’t follow.
That’s what makes this poll interesting.
