There are few places in the world where you can walk into a licensed shop and buy marijuana for recreational use. Uruguay is one (sold in pharmacies). Canada is another. They’re joined by 21 US states, representing 48 percent of the American population, up from zero states in 2013.

That means that in Idaho, people caught growing or selling weed face mandatory jail time and tens of thousands of dollars in fines while their counterparts next door in Washington can enroll in a state-funded mentor-ship program for cannabis business planning and development. And states like Washington are violating both US federal law which prohibits any use of marijuana, and also international law, which prohibits non-medical uses.

That’s messy. But it reflects that although large majorities agree that the criminalization of cannabis use was a mistake, there’s less consensus about how exactly to move forward.

Will Jones III, the Director of Community Engagement & Outreach at Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), maintains that the commercialization of weed would lead to more harm than good. He prefers decriminalization instead, which removes criminal penalties, treating marijuana possession more like a traffic ticket. (Six US states have decriminalized recreational cannabis without legalizing.) However, SAM prioritizes fighting legalization and reducing drug use over promoting decriminalization.

SAM co-drafted the Medical Marijuana and Cannabidiol Research Expansion Act which makes it easier to study marijuana and develop marijuana-derived drugs but without descheduling marijuana as a schedule I illicit substance. President Biden signed it into law in December of 2022.

Paul Armentano, the Deputy Director of NORML, has spent decades advocating for legalization of marijuana and says decriminalization doesn’t go far enough. NORML represents the interests of cannabis consumers and has been advocating for the removal of criminal penalties for recreational marijuana since 1970.

We thought both of their perspectives were worth hearing but didn’t want to stage a traditional debate where viewers so often come away confused about what to believe. So we created a format that would help establish a shared foundation of facts while still communicating what each of these advocates believe is the most important information to know.

In this new take on a debate, we asked both participants to identify facts that their opponent would have to concede are true. They were given an opportunity to review their adversary’s facts in advance and in a video call agreed on a set of six. In the video, you’ll see those facts presented, with each participant given the opportunity to add a “footnote” to their opponent’s facts.

Is Microdosing The Future of Marijuana?

The creator of LSD, Dr. Albert Hofmann, believed that ingesting tiny amounts of the drug could have therapeutic value, and so-called “microdoses” have since been proposed as a substitute for everything from Adderall to marriage counseling. Now, as more states legalize marijuana, the trend that began with hallucinogens has grown to include microdoses of THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in weed.

VICE News traveled to Portland, Oregon, to meet Ethan Ernest, creator of marijuana microdose pills called Mirth Control, which contain a fraction of the THC found in a typical joint or batch of edibles. Earnest compares Mirth Control to “open-source Xanax. Other products in the new weed microdosing category push the envelope even further with suggestions about purported medical uses.

Shopping For Marijuana: The Complete Cannabis Shopping Guide For Beginners | Discover Marijuana

What do you buy when you go to a medical cannabis dispensary? Today on Discover Marijuana, we are going to cover the shopping guide for medical marijuana.

If you want to schedule a time to meet with a QMP to get your medical marijuana card in Utah please visit us at: utahmarijuana.org.

Buying medical cannabis can have quite the learning curve. In today’s episode we are going to cover the basics and get you on your way to finding the right medical marijuana for your condition. Shopping for medical marijuana doesn’t have to be difficult.

What questions do you have about purchasing medical marijuana in Utah?

We know that medical cannabis is new to most of us and that many of us have questions. Even though CBD has been widely accepted across the country, many are still left wondering about it. Discover Marijuana is all about getting you the information you need to dispel the myths and allow you to know the options you have when looking into plant-based medicine.

Tim Pickett, a Utah QMP and founder of http://utahmarijuana.org, meets with patients daily to recommend medical cannabis. Having a certain CBD dosage on hand as you ease into this treatment is highly recommended, especially if you are unfamiliar or made uncomfortable by the euphoric head high that comes with cannabis. CBD will help to tap that feeling down a bit.

Your other host, Blake Smith, CSO of http://zionmedicinal.com, a Utah CBD and cannabis company, has studied cannabis and the endocannabinoid system for years, and it shows. While Tim takes over how to use CBD, THC, and loads of other cannabinoids to help different ailments, Blake will explain WHY CBD works for Parkinson’s, pain, seizures, etc. for a full spectrum view of your treatment. We believe this will help patients take control of their own healthcare — something that hasn’t been possible in many other areas.

Inside New Jersey’s Legal Weed Boom

As marijuana legalization spreads, states are looking at different ways to ensure those most affected by decades of racially biased anti-drug policies have a leg up.

Under a special program, New Jersey prioritizes granting licenses to dispensaries run by people with marijuana convictions on their records.

Lawmakers hope that by making equity a cornerstone of their newly legalized markets, those who dealt marijuana in the illegal, or “legacy,” market will be persuaded to go legit.

Inside New Jersey’s Push to Get Ex-Cons Into Cannabis Capitalism

Can You Overdose On Weed?

Can you actually overdose on weed? Is the fact that nobody has overdosed on weed true? In today’s educational video, we will explore the side effects of marijuana.

A drug overdose occurs when a person takes more than the medically recommended dose, resulting in a toxic state which can sometimes lead to death. It can be accidental or intentional where an individual wants to end their life. How much of a drug causes an overdose can differ from person to person and their own physiology. So what about marijuana? There’s been a lot of news about the medical benefits of this drug in recent months and in many countries it has been legalized for medical purposes. But is there a dangerous side to it? That’s what we intend to find out, in this episode of The Infographics Show: Can you overdose on weed?

How Weed Works: THC

How America lost the war on Marijuana

How America lost the war on Marijuana: Within a decade, the U.S. went from cracking down on marijuana use to becoming a $47 billion industry. But the road to having dispensaries on every corner, the smell of weed smoke freely in the air and criminal records expunged didn’t happen overnight. It took a couple of states leading the charge – Colorado and Washington in 2012 – to then ripple into near nation-wide legalization. There are now 21 states where cannabis has been legalized for recreational use. Every corner of New York City , for example, is an assault on the nostrils with people lighting up a joint as early as before or just after their morning commute. However, not everyone is on board with the marijuana revolution. Doctors and advocates have highlighted concerns about excessive use of cannabis in high risk groups, especially the youth. DailyMail.com has examined when exactly America’s war on drugs changed, the challenges the industry faces and the future of the billion-dollar business.

weed cookies , no need to make butter!

Youtube does not pay me for this video 🙁

So please consider watching one of my other videos or sending a superthanks to support my channel, and thanks for watching.

No need to make butter first!!

My wife has cancer and she uses THC mainly to manage some of her pains. For quick relief she uses the vaporizer, but for longer lasting pain relief edibles work great. Weather you are using TCH for pain relief or just recreation, please be responsible.

You can use my regular cookie dough recipe to make your weed cookies, or buy some frozen cookie dough from the store. (mine is better though)
.
First recipe uses AVB(already vaporized bud). With AVB the cannabinoids have already been released, so add it to your cookie dough and cook at normal temperature for normal time. My oven works best at 325F for 12-15 mins.

Second recipe uses fresh buds. With fresh buds you need to bake your cookies for 25 to 30 mins to release the cannabinoids. To do this without burning your cookies, turn down the temperature of your oven. Do a practice run with just cookie dough and test your oven to see what temperature you need your oven at so the cookies are done after 30 mins. My oven works best at 250F for 28-30 mins.

Start with adding only a small amount at first. I started with 1/8 of a teaspoon of fresh buds and had good results. Remember you can always have a second cookie. It takes about 30mins to an hour for the cookies to kick in, so be patient.

Now that your done baking…lets get baked! 🙂

How to Plant Cannabis Seeds – A Beginner's Guide with Kyle Kushman

This video will look at how to plant cannabis seeds to ensure you have a successful cannabis grow. Make sure you’ve checked out out our guide to germinating your cannabis seeds before you watch this one, as you will need to ensure your seeds have germinated correctly before you plant them. Once your seeds have sprouted their taproots it’s time to plant them!

After ensuring your seeds have popped, now comes planting your weed seeds. The first thing you will need is a container or containers depending on how many seeds you are planting. In our video, Kyle Kushman opts for plastic cups. You will also need soil and some scissors as well as your water and some nutrients. You will need your nitrogen, this macronutrient makes sure your seeds start growing happily and healthily, all you need do is add this to some water and sprinkle a bit on your plants. Poke holes in the bottom of your containers with your scissors to ensure you don’t get any standing water.

From here you will need clingfilm or other plastic wrappings as well as rubber bands so that you can create your own makeshift terrarium.

Watch the video above to see Kyle Kushman’s method on how to plant weed seeds and break ground on what is bound to be a successful grow!

Kyle will show you how to do it right using three germinated seeds and these easy-to-find materials:

Plastic soda cups (one seed per cup)
Vegamatrix Grow
Plastic cling wrap
Rubber band (one rubber band per cup)
Neutral soil
1 liter of water

Once you have the needed supplies, let’s start planting!

Marijuana for Beginners: Marijuana Side Effects | Discover Marijuana

Today on Discover Marijuana, we talk about some of the side effects of medical marijuana and how to avoid them. The side effects of medical cannabis are much less pronounced than those in a recreational use program mostly due to the amount of Delta 9 THC consumed.

When we are talking about medical marijuana, we are using microdoses (Watch our video on microdosing here: https://youtu.be/z8a4TWW_Vrs). When using microdoses, there still may be some effects that are different than expected. Those effects are ones that you will get used to, or build a tolerance to, over time. Some of the effects are caused by taking too much too fast for your condition. This is why talking with your QMP and Pharmacist is important.

If you want to schedule a time to meet with a QMP to get your medical marijuana card in Utah please visit us at: utahmarijuana.org.

How to decarb weed in the oven

When decarboxylating your cannabis in an oven, it’s important to remember that the temperature dial on an oven is more of an average temperature than an exact one.

Ovens can fluctuate in temperature by 20 or more degrees, so keep an eye on your cannabis. If it turns brown too quickly or smells like it is burning, turn the oven down. An oven thermometer is a good investment if you’re going to be using your oven regularly for cannabis cooking.

Understanding Medicinal Cannabis and its uses

Since cannabis was legalized in Canada for both recreational and medicinal purposes, you might be wondering if cannabis could help the person you’re caring for.

In addition to recreational use, cannabis, also known as marijuana, is being used by many Canadians to help to improve symptoms of their medical conditions. More people, including those over 65 years of age are using cannabis every day, and many are finding that cannabis gives them relief from common problems like pain or trouble sleeping, but it’s not for everyone.

In this video, we’ll review what cannabis is, how it can help, what the risks are and what steps to take if you think it’ll help someone you’re caring for.

Cannabis is also known as Marijuana.

Grow 10+ POUNDS of Cannabis Flower on ONE PLANT | Increase Yield

John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ visits TD who grows 6 cannabis plants in his backyard and yields 10-15 pounds per plant (We should call them trees). This is the first of many visits to TD’s grow so you can see the progress over the season and learn a little more from TD each time.
In this episode, you will learn the techniques TD uses to grow cannabis plants in his backyard that will yield him 5x 5x MORE FLOWER / BUD than the seed catalog advertises.
You will learn how TD grows organically without the use of synthetic nutrients or chemical sprays to kill pests. You will learn how he grows this much bud that will get him high for 2x as long as indoor-grown flower.

First, you will hear from Josh from the boogie brew company on why we are here to show you TD’s grow.

You will discover some of the most critical steps you need to implement if you intend to grow 10-15 pounds of flower per plant, which includes properly sexing your plants and determining if they are male or female, and EATING your males so they don’t pollinate your females. It is also important to ensure your neighbors are not growing any males either as the pollen can drift to your girls.

Next, you will learn why he plants each plant in a 6-foot diameter ring that has a planted inside an oversize gopher basket that is almost fully lined with plastic to create a pot sunk into the ground.

You will discover why he does not use drip irrigation, but instead floods his plants, forcing their roots to grow wide and far.

You will learn the specific super soil mix and fertilizer practices he does including compost tea and feeding schedule to grow cannabis trees.

You will also discover why it is important to use a water filter to minimize the biological loss of the beneficial microbes in the rhizosphere of your girls.

You will also learn why using cages, and why it is important to scrog your plants. You will learn the basics of stretching your plants to create more solar panels so they can grow larger and faster than unscrogged plants.

Next, you will hear from Josh from boogie brew on some of the products that he has supplied TD with so TD can grow large cannabis trees.

Finally, you will learn from TD the master cannabis grower on how he grows 10-15 pounds per plant. John will ask TD the following questions
33:40 Is it true you harvest 15 pounds of flower off one plant?
34:00 Why do you want to grow so many pounds per plant?
35:08 How to increase yield by stretching your plants and creating more top middles
36:26 SuperSoil Mix he uses
38:54 What is the scrog technique?
40:24 How often do you feed compost tea?
40:58 What is the lasagna topping mix you use?
41:42 What are the best genetics or cultivars to plant?
45:58 What is your favorite genetics to grow that yields more flowers?

After watching this episode, you will learn the basics of growing up to 15 pounds of cannabis flower per plant in your outdoor cannabis grow.

How to Get High AF in Alaska

On VICE’s weed travel show ‘BLUNT REVIEWS,’ we trek to places where weed is legal to review things a cannabis-consuming tourist can do while they’re stoned.

On this episode, VICE’s Trey Smith visited Alaska, where he stayed at Cecelia’s B&B, a weed-friendly bed and breakfast in Anchorage, and sampled a THC-infused buffet with folks from the local weed industry. Then he stopped by The High Expedition in Talkeetna, a dispensary that doubles as a museum to famous mountain climber Ray Genet, sampling their product before taking a bush plane to check out the surrounding mountain scenery.
