Legendary Lobster Pound is experimenting with a method to relieve their lobsters’ pain during the cooking process. For the restaurant’s first experiment, a lobster was placed into a box with a few inches of water, and marijuana smoke was pumped in through the water. Gill observed the lobster’s behavior rather than cooking him up and took his claw bands off for nearly three weeks. The lobster named Roscoe was much calmer and less aggressive for the next three weeks. Roscoe was released back into the ocean, but Gill now plans to serve up sedated lobsters at customers’ request. She hopes all lobsters she serves next season will be sedated first, Gill told the ‘Mount Desert Islander.’
