Cannabis today isn’t the same as it was 20 years ago.

With THC levels skyrocketing, more people are experiencing cannabis-induced psychosis, leading to long-term psychiatric diagnoses like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Some assume bad trips last only hours, but I’ve seen cases where symptoms persist for months or even years. Nearly half of those with cannabis-induced psychosis later receive a schizophrenia diagnosis.

At the same time, Big Cannabis is using the same deceptive marketing tactics as Big Pharma—hyping benefits while minimizing risks. Young people with developing brains are especially vulnerable. Could some psychiatric diagnoses actually be cannabis-induced brain injuries that could have healed if use had stopped?
