When starting with cannabis oil, its always easier to take more than to go backwards.

Decarb tip: If you allow your oil to cook slow, reaching the point where all activity in the oil has stopped and there are no more bubbles, you can be sure your oil is activated from thc-a to thc. If you prefer retaining more terpenes and utilizing a thc-a oil, not decarbing will yield you thc-a. I personally use thc-a for many ailments, especially fatty lipomas (benign tumors) in dogs!

7 Easy Steps To Make Cannabis Oil:
1. Gather materials: cheese cloth, cooking medium (butter maker, rice cooker, stovetop), small pot, large pot, pan, wooden spoon, spatula, scale, fan, ethanol or ever clear, material (trim, flowers, no stalks,!! – ground up dry is best), cooking thermometer, parchment paper, *extracts for added strength, paper towels, isopropyl alcohol for cleanup, *organic unrefined coconut oil or 100% cocoa butter

2. Clean working space & tools

3. gauge cooking medium – cook water; take temp. touch therm gauge bottom temp

4. quick wash – use wooden spoon & big pot, bath & stir for at least 60 seconds. second wash acceptable for atleast 1 week

5. strain – use clean cheese cloth, strain into smaller pot

6. cook – double boil, keep rotating don’t let burn remove from heat when no longer runny. use fan to blow directly over the top of the cooking medium from start to finish, use clean cheese cloth to drape over cooking medium (safely) so that no dust particles blow into the oil from the fan, also make sure no open flames, cigarettes, bowls, or joints close. scrape onto parchment, weigh once finished, weigh parchment first, then reweigh oil after to determine actual weight. You can refrigerate, wait 20-30minutes for it to harden, or can skip, keep in pot, and go to step 7

7. homogenize (this is also the step for decarboxylation {activating our oil}) –
Before delving into step 7 you may want to weigh your oil. Use scale. use cacao butter for suppository or coconut oil for other. straight works but coconut oil or butter is a better delivery method..

** coconut oil or cocoa butter, a 1:1 ratio is acceptable,compensate for dilution (topicals can use more coconut oil) Use your favorite oil, or butter, reheat in the bowl to activate leftover oil or butter to store for later use when making medicated edibles. Bon Appetite!

*Decarb – to activate the cannabinoids from raw acid form to active form it is necessary to decarb or thermally activate. Raising the temp of the oil or cooking for longer period of time on lower temp may help achieve this. Feel free to research boiling points of dif cannabinoids such as thc thca thcv cbd cbn, etc so figure out what temp you do not want to exceed in order to retain desired profile.

“Government officials from Alaska and Washington have pushed back against Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who sent threatening letters to the states and questioned the efficacy of their marijuana legalization and regulatory programs.

In letters obtained by HuffPost that are dated Aug. 1 and Aug. 14, Alaskan Gov. Bill Walker and Attorney General Jahna Lindemuth, both Independents, defend their state’s marijuana law and the voters who approved legalization in the state. They also ask the Department of Justice to not interfere with state-legal programs and refute some of Sessions’ assertions about their law.

Sessions told Alaskan officials that the “2015 Annual Drug Report” released by Alaska State Troopers “raises serious questions about whether marijuana ‘regulatory structures’ will be effective in your state,” according to a July 24 letter that Sessions sent and HuffPost obtained.”*

Hi I am doctor Michael Uphues. I am a board certified family physician, osteopath, cannabinoid medicine specialist, clinical hypo therapist, personal trainer and functional medicine specialist.
In this first of a series of videos I am going to give you a brief overview of medical cannabis, or as some people refer to it it as medical marijuana.
Cannabis has been used medically for over 5000 years. In fact it was used in Chinese medicine for over a hundred different indications. It has been used in ayurevtic medicine for over 2000 years. Cannabis was part of the american pharmacopiea and was contained in over the counter products from the 1850’s through 1941 following the marijuana tax act of 1937.
The reefer madness propaganda campaign which began in 1936 was one of the most effective in the nation’s history, so much so that we are still impacted by it 80 years later.
Add to this Harry Anslinger who was commissioner of the federal bureau of narcotics and drafted the marijuana tax act of 1937 and we have had an 80 year uphill battler regarding not only medical cannibus but also commercial hemp. The most important fact that I would like you to take away from this first video is the fact that not a single person has ever died from a cannabis overdose in the entire history of mankind. Currently cannabis is a schedule 1 drug in this country. By definition a schedule 1 drug has no medical value and has a high potential for abuse. If this is so then why does the United States government DPHHA hold the only patent on cannabis? This patent was granted on October 7th 2003 and was backed by research that proved that cannabis has strong antioxidant effects as well as being effective in neurodegenerative disorder such as alzheimers, parkinson, lou gherig’s and huntington’s chorea.
The cat is out of the bag. The American public is informed, smart and know that they were lied to since the 1930’s. This is why as of today, July 7th 2016, 25 states have legalized cannabis for medical use. Please stay tuned for my educational video series on medical cannabis. ⅛ oz. (3.5 Grams) Dried Cannabis Flowers – Very Finely Ground

Directions:

I had some free time so decided to share a quick easy recipe for some medicated cookies. I was definitely high before I shot this, as you can tell by me using words like “fridgerate”.

My Ingredients:
*Betty Crocker Cookie Dough Mix
*1 Stick of Beyond Mars cannabutter (approx 114 grams/400mg THC)
*1 Egg

These ingredients are dependent on the cookie mix you pick up. Easy Peezy. I pick up cannabutter from my local dispensary in Colorado. You can also use your own cannabutter, it’s easy to make.

**I used 400mg of THC, and seperated it into eight cookies. The resulting effects are about 50mg THC per cookie. Two cookies, and a glass of milk make for a nice breakfast to start the day.

HOW TO MAKE CANNABUTTER FOR COOKING WITH MARIJUANA

Before proceeding with this recipe please read our article on dosing. It will help you to decide exactly how much cannabis to include in your butter.

Here are the things you will need:

slowcooker (crockpot)
coffee or herb grinder
tinfoil or wax paper
cookie tray
1 quart water
stirring utensil
large metal strainer
cheesecloth
1 lb butter
1/4-1 oz bud* see our article on dosing
Using a clean bud grinder or coffee bean grinder, grind up the bud to a coarse grind. Don’t make it too fine.

Spread it evenly on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or tinfoil.

In an oven preheated to 240º bake buds for 1 hour. Stir at midpoint. This process is called decarboxylation and it helps activate the THC prior to absorption into the butter.

In a slowcooker set to low – no more than 200ºF (93ºC) – add the decarboxylized buds, the butter and the water. Simmer for 2-4 hours. Stir once per hour.

Pour the butter and water into a container and put in freezer. Make sure the shape of the container you use will allow you to remove the frozen block of butter and water.

The butter and ice will separate and freeze. The ice block portion can be removed from the butter and thrown away. This freezing step helps get rid of chlorophyll and other plant flavours from the butter.

Warm the butter in the slow cooker until its melted. Using a strainer lined with cheesecloth, strain the butter into a container. Use a spoon to push the butter through the cheesecloth and strainer. The purpose of this step is to strain out plant particles and purify the butter.

Butter can be kept in fridge for up to 2 weeks and kept frozen for up to 6 months.

Cross Eyed Monkey Bread Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup granulated sugar (1/2 brown sugar 1/2 granulated)
1/2 Cup (1 stick) unsalted cannabis butter, room temperature
2 large eggs
3 ripe bananas
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups all-purpose flour (1/2 cup wheat 1-1/2 cup white)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Butter a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a small bowl, mash the bananas with a fork. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.

In another larger bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon and salt.

Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until combined.

Gently fold in the dry ingredients mixture, walnuts and chocolate chips mixing just until the flour disappears.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Set aside to cool on a rack for 15 minutes.

Remove bread from pan, invert onto rack and cool completely before slicing.
