In states like Colorado, where marijuana is legal, Surgeon General Jerome Adams says the potency of today’s marijuana may be a detriment to business investment and worker efficacy. “There is no such thing as medical marijuana,” he says. Adams also shares his concerns for black communities, “adding a marijuana dispensary to the mix” on street corners won’t fix our social justice ills, he says.

This conversation was recorded during Aspen Ideas: Health in Aspen, Colorado. Presented by the Aspen Institute, the three-day event opens the Aspen Ideas Festival and features more than 200 speakers engaging with urgent health care challenges and exploring cutting-edge innovations in medicine and science.

Does medical marijuana treat glaucoma? Medical marijuana is produced from unprocessed marijuana plants, or its extracts, for the ultimate use in the treatment of certain illnesses. But does medical marijuana treat glaucoma?

Medical marijuana has been promoted as a controversial but effective option in the treatment of certain diseases such as Glaucoma. It has been proven that smoking marijuana helps lower blood pressure, which is one of the contributing causes behind pressure build up within the eye. However, the problem with using marijuana to lower blood pressure is the short-term effects of the active molecules, which only last for approximately 3-4 hours. This fact represents a challenge in making medical marijuana a sustainable long-term treatment solution. In the specific case of glaucoma, not enough research has been developed in studying marijuana’s overall impact on the optic nerve specifically.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent at CNN, joined Dr. Staci Gruber, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, for a discussion on medical marijuana. Gupta spoke of his experience studying the effects of medical marijuana and recounting stories of patients using the substance for its health benefits. Gupta described how his opinion has changed on the subject as a result of these encounters and the growing evidence to suggest its potential ability to treat neurological problems. Gupta and Gruber also spoke to the concern of giving medical marijuana to children and whether there are lasting negative effects of marijuana usage, both medical and recreational in adolescents under the age of sixteen.

I took a trip to Philadelphia to get approved for a PA Medical Marijuana Card.

Hi! I’m Stacy, a 50 something female, living in my RV, a 25 foot 2005 Winnebago Minnie Winnie with my 84 lb. dog, Bao, a lab-rottie-husky mix. I’m self-employed as a doTerra wellness advocate and owner of Life With Stacy (Stacy’s Natural Remedies – balms, salves, tinctures).

If you are not suffering from one of the qualifying conditions above, the State of Missouri has also added a special clause stating that “any other chronic, debilitating or other medical condition that may be alleviated by marijuana is in the professional judgement of a physician.” This means that patients can bring their medical records to a medical marijuana doctor, and this physician can determine if cannabis would help the ailment.

From DPS: “At approximately 9 a.m. today, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Agents served a search warrant in the 5800 Block of Magnum Drive in Arlington. While serving the search warrant, an illegal underground marijuana grow was located in the back yard of the residence being searched.

The marijuana was found in an underground room that was completely separate from the residence. It was approximately 20 feet from the house in the backyard covered by an outdoor patio. Under the patio was a covering that led to a hole that was approximately 9 feet deep. A ladder led to the bottom of the underground location. The underground opening where the Marijuana was being grown was approximately 14 ft. by 8 ft. and contained around 100 plants.

Arlington Fire Dept. was called to the scene to ensure the underground location was structurally secure while agents collect evidence.

Two individuals were arrested at the residence: Tri Vo, age 31 and Jlicia Perry, age 26. Both suspects were transported to the Tarrant County Jail for cargo theft (Texas Penal Code 31.18). The investigation is currently underway and additional charges may be forthcoming.”
