In this video, Jonathan from the Institute of Human Anatomy explores the physiological and anatomical reasons behind common cannabis side effects, using real human cadavers to show exactly which systems are affected. We dive into the science of “the munchies,” red eyes, and dry mouth by examining the heart, salivary glands, and the hypothalamus.
We also break down the critical differences between tolerance, dependence, and addiction, and discuss how the endocannabinoid system adapts to repeated THC exposure.

6:54 – Tolerance vs. Dependence: How the Brain Adapts Over Time
7:54 – Is Cannabis Addictive? Understanding Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD)
9:03 – Comparing Risks: Cannabis vs. Alcohol and Opioids

Common Questions
Why does cannabis cause red eyes if you don’t smoke it? It is caused by THC binding to receptors that dilate blood vessels, not just smoke irritation.
How does the “munchies” signal work in the brain? THC disrupts POMC neurons in the hypothalamus, turning off “full” signals and releasing endorphins instead.
What is the difference between dependence and addiction? Dependence is a physical adaptation with withdrawal symptoms, while addiction involves impaired control despite negative consequences.
Does age affect the risk of cannabis addiction? Yes, starting during adolescence increases the risk of developing a disorder from 1 in 10 to about 1 in 6.

Every Weed Type & Its Effects Explained In 22 Minutes
Written by thcscout on . Posted in Medical. No Comments on Every Weed Type & Its Effects Explained In 22 Minutes
Video description:
Every Weed Type & Its Effects Explained In 22 Minutes breaks down the most common weed types, cannabis strains, and marijuana categories, including Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, CBD-dominant strains, THC-dominant strains, and balanced THC:CBD strains. This video explains how each weed type affects the brain and body, why different strains create different highs, and what actually determines effects like relaxation, energy, focus, anxiety, sleep, appetite, and pain relief.
In this detailed explainer, we cover well-known weed strain groups such as Indica-leaning strains (Northern Lights, Granddaddy Purple) known for calming and sedating effects, Sativa-leaning strains (Sour Diesel, Jack Herer) often associated with energy and creativity, and Hybrid strains (Blue Dream, Gelato, Wedding Cake) that blend effects depending on genetics. We also explain high-THC weed, CBD-rich cannabis, and how terpenes like myrcene, limonene, pinene, and caryophyllene influence how each strain feels.
This video also explores THC vs CBD, weed potency, dosage, and methods of consumption such as smoking, vaping, edibles, and concentrates, explaining why the same weed strain can feel completely different from person to person. Topics include weed tolerance, beginner vs experienced users, medical vs recreational marijuana, and why strain names alone donāt always predict effects.
Designed for beginners, casual users, and curious viewers, this video provides a clear, no-nonsense explanation of weed types, cannabis effects, and marijuana scienceāwithout myths, hype, or misinformation. By the end, youāll understand why every weed high feels different, how to interpret strain labels, and what truly affects your cannabis experience.

A former White House drug czar is criticizing efforts to reschedule marijuana, calling cannabis a gateway drug and arguing the move is the wrong direction. We discuss the political backdrop, where rescheduling actually stands, and whether comments like this influence the broader federal conversation.
In Florida, the marijuana legalization campaign is asking the state Supreme Court to restore 71,000 ballot signatures that were invalidated by officials. The outcome will likely determine whether adult-use legalization gets another path to voters in a major state.
Pennsylvania lawmakers are also weighing legalization, but thereās growing debate around taxation. An argument being made: if cannabis is taxed too aggressively from day one, the legal market struggles to compete. We look at how other states handled this and what Pennsylvania may learn from those examples.
And in Virginia, the House and Senate have advanced different marijuana sales legalization bills, setting up negotiations ahead. Trent Woloveck, Chief Strategy Officer of Jushi Holdings (OTCQX: JUSHF), joins the conversation to discuss the Virginia landscape and how operators are thinking about the state.
