Cannabis has entered one of the country’s most closely watched U.S. Senate races, with Iowa Democratic candidate Josh Turek calling for marijuana to be federally legalized, regulated, and taxed.

His Republican opponent, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, previously voted against federal marijuana legalization in 2022, though she did support cannabis banking reform back in 2021, a reminder that these positions rarely break down along clean party lines.
