I put these clips together from the time between 1967 and 1969 when it seemed like peace and love and hippies were all around the Haight Ashbury in San Francisco letting loose and feeling free. I have a great deal of footage from this place at that time and I found these small clips that give a sense of the mood.

I was living in Camden, Maine at this time, just about as far away from this as you could get. So when I went West for various film projects, I was amazed by what I saw. Some aspects excited me and some aspects frightened the hell out of me.

Looking back on that time I see many meaningful philosophies that were articulated by the hippie movement some values are still carried on today like organic farming. Other behaviors that hippies displayed at that time still shock me and make me feel uncomfortable. Of course that does not make them wrong from their points of view.
