Cannabis and the Endocannabinoid System

How does cannabis work in the brain? In this video, we will discuss how cannabis products interact with the brains’ endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system influences many brain functions including mood, memory, and stress. This system uses endogenous molecules called endocannabinoids to send messages to different parts of the brain. This system can be influenced by the presence of cannabinoids, which are found in the cannabis plant. Watch this video to learn more about how endocannabinoids and cannabinoids target different brain regions to alter behaviour and brain function.

Outdoor Cannabis Flowering Stage Late August Garden Tour

The garden is thriving in the final week of August, with twelve plants—six rooted directly in the soil and six flourishing in grow bags—showing off their full flowering potential. Genetics from Humboldt Seeds and Royal Queen Seeds are putting on a show, with resin production ramping up and dense bud sites stacking beautifully across the canopy. The scent profile is becoming unmistakable, with a sweet, fruity wave of blueberry rising above the rest, hinting at the terpene richness to come. Sunlight and late-summer warmth are coaxing out the best in each cultivar, and the contrast between in-ground vigor and the mobility of the grow bags adds a dynamic layer to the setup. This is the moment where the garden shifts from vegetative ambition to aromatic promise.

How to Grow Apple Tree at Home | Easy Gardening Guide

How to Grow Apple Tree at Home | Complete Gardening Guide

Have you ever dreamed of picking fresh, juicy apples right from your own garden? The good news is—you don’t need a large farm to grow apple trees. With the right techniques, you can successfully grow apples at home in your backyard, balcony, or even in pots and containers. This step-by-step guide will explain everything you need to know about growing apple trees—from seeds or saplings—all the way to harvesting delicious fruits. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced gardener, this guide will help you grow apples with confidence.

🌱 Why Grow Apple Trees at Home?

Fresh, organic fruits without chemicals.

Cost-effective and sustainable.

Great for small gardens, backyards, or balconies.

Apple trees also improve air quality and add beauty to your home.

☀️ Best Climate for Growing Apples

Apples prefer cool to temperate climates.

Ideal temperature: 15°C to 24°C (59°F to 75°F).

Apples require a certain number of chilling hours (cold weather exposure) for proper flowering and fruiting.

In warmer regions, you can try low-chill apple varieties that grow well in containers.

🌍 Best Varieties of Apples (Worldwide)

USA & Canada: Honeycrisp, Gala, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji.

UK & Europe: Cox’s Orange Pippin, Bramley, Egremont Russet, Golden Delicious.

Australia & New Zealand: Pink Lady, Granny Smith, Royal Gala.

Container-friendly: Dwarf apple varieties like “Columnar” apples are excellent for balcony or pot gardening.

🪴 Soil Preparation

Apples love well-draining, loamy soil.

Soil pH should be 6.0–7.0.

Mix garden soil + compost + sand for good aeration.

Add organic matter like vermicompost or cow manure to improve fertility.

🌱 Growing Apple Tree from Seeds

Collect fresh seeds from a ripe apple.

Wash and dry seeds to remove any sticky coating.

Place seeds in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag.

Keep in the refrigerator for 6–8 weeks (this process is called stratification).

Once seeds sprout, plant them in small pots with fertile soil.

After seedlings grow 10–15 cm tall, transplant them to larger pots or garden soil.

Tip: Growing from seeds is exciting but takes longer. For quicker results, buy a grafted apple sapling from a nursery.

🌳 Planting Apple Saplings

Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball.

Place the sapling upright and fill with soil + compost.

Keep at least 10–15 feet spacing if planting multiple trees.

Water thoroughly after planting.

💧 Watering Requirements

Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.

Young plants need watering every 2–3 days.

Mature trees need deep watering once a week.

Reduce watering during winter dormancy.

🌿 Fertilization

Use organic fertilizers like compost, cow manure, or seaweed extract.

Apply balanced NPK fertilizer (10:10:10) during the growing season.

Avoid over-fertilizing—too much nitrogen leads to leafy growth but fewer fruits.

✂️ Pruning & Training

Prune apple trees during late winter or early spring.

Remove dead or weak branches.

Train branches to spread outward for better sunlight exposure.

Proper pruning ensures better fruit quality.

🐛 Pest & Disease Management

Common problems:

Aphids, mites, apple scab, powdery mildew.
Solutions:

Spray neem oil or organic insecticidal soap.

Keep the area weed-free.

Ensure good airflow around plants.

🍎 Flowering and Fruiting

Apple trees usually flower in spring.

Fruit sets in late spring to summer, depending on variety.

Grafted apple trees may bear fruit in 2–3 years, while seed-grown trees may take 5–7 years.

🌾 Harvesting

Apples are ready to harvest when they are firm, crisp, and fully colored.

Gently twist and lift the fruit—it should detach easily.

Store apples in a cool, dry place; they can last for weeks.

🏡 Growing Apples in Pots/Containers

Use a pot at least 20–25 inches wide and deep.

Choose dwarf apple varieties.

Provide full sun (6–8 hours daily).

Fertilize every 4–6 weeks with liquid organic fertilizer.

Stake the plant for support.

💡 Final Thoughts

Growing apples at home may sound challenging, but with the right care and patience, it’s absolutely possible. Whether you have a backyard or just a small balcony, apples can thrive in pots, containers, or garden soil. Start with one sapling today, and within a few years, you’ll enjoy the joy of harvesting your very own home-grown apples.

MORE Act Returns: What It Means for Cannabis | TDR Cannabis in 5

On this episode of TDR Cannabis in 5, presented by Dutchie, we break down two very different paths for U.S. cannabis reform that are both making headlines right now.

House Democrats, led by Rep. Jerry Nadler, have once again introduced the MORE Act, which would fully deschedule cannabis at the federal level, wipe prior convictions, and reinvest tax revenue into communities impacted by prohibition. It’s bold, it’s comprehensive, and it’s back in play.

At the same time, President Donald Trump is weighing a move to reschedule cannabis under the Controlled Substances Act. That step wouldn’t legalize marijuana outright, but it would dramatically expand medical research opportunities, open doors for universities and hospitals, and bring big corporate players into the space.

So what’s the difference between rescheduling and descheduling? Which path is more likely in the near term? And how would each scenario impact patients, investors, and the cannabis industry as a whole?

This episode cuts through the noise with a clear breakdown of the proposals, what’s at stake, and what to watch as reform momentum builds in Washington.

How Does Baking Soda Absorb Odors? #ProCleaningTip #Shorts

How does baking soda absorb odors?
Fridge and Freezer Spill-proof flow through pouches – (Paid Link https://amzn.to/3jyjQ8c)
Baking soda is highly effective at absorbing odors in the air, as well as in carpets and fabrics. Its molecules contain both a negative charge and neutralize the positive charges of odor-causing compounds. This helps to trap and bind the odorous molecules, preventing them from becoming airborne and being smelled within an enclosed space. Additionally, baking soda has natural deodorizing properties that help to eliminate unpleasant smells. When used as directed in combination with proper ventilation, baking soda is extremely effective at helping to rid a home of even strong, unusual odors like smoke or pet urine.

What Happens After Cannabis Rescheduling? | TDR Cannabis in 5

In this episode of TDR Cannabis in Five, presented by Dutchie, host Shadd Dales looks at what could happen if cannabis is officially rescheduled at the federal level.

Rescheduling would mark a significant shift, moving cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III or beyond. This change would open new pathways for medical research, academic partnerships, and corporate involvement. Universities such as Johns Hopkins, Harvard Medical School, and UCLA could run federally supported studies, while hospitals like MD Anderson and the Cleveland Clinic would be able to launch clinical trials on chronic pain, cancer care, and neurological conditions. For the first time, real data would flow into the FDA.

Cannabis companies would also play a role. Multi-state operators like Curaleaf, Green Thumb Industries, and Trulieve could partner with universities, while Canadian firms such as Tilray and Aurora may expand their medical collaborations into the U.S. Research would range from pharmaceutical trials to product safety studies, agricultural development, and public health analysis.

Rescheduling also sets the stage for broader corporate involvement. Big Tobacco companies like Altria and Philip Morris, Big Alcohol players such as Constellation Brands, Molson Coors, and AB InBev, and even Big Pharma leaders could expand into the sector through partnerships or acquisitions.

The pace of change could be rapid: universities applying for grants within weeks, clinical trials within a year, and FDA-approved cannabinoid medicines within a few years. This episode outlines the potential infrastructure, partnerships, and timelines that could follow rescheduling.

He discusses germinating seeds in June and transitioning them outdoors in November when conditions are right. He shares how the desert heat and plant size require watering three times a day to keep his garden thriving.

Beyond cultivation, he speaks openly about how growing his own cannabis helped him transition away from prescription opioids and regain control of his health. He also explains why he values homegrown cannabis over dispensary products, highlighting the importance of quality and self-reliance.

This veteran’s story demonstrates the power of cultivation as both a healing practice and a way to connect with the wider community of growers. At ILGM, our mission is to bring that knowledge to everyone, fostering a community built on education, empowerment, and shared passion for growing.
