The Safer Arizona Cannabis Legalization Political Action Committee has filed paperwork with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office to begin collecting signatures to get on the November 2018 ballot. They would need to collect 156,042 signatures from valid Arizona voters by July 5, 2018, to qualify.
Let’s not forget that the FDA approved a synthetic formulation of THC from the company InSyndros who then turned around and gave $500,000 to the group opposing marijuana legalization in Arizona last time it was up for a vote and the FBI arrested the company’s former chief executive and five other executives on charges that they paid kickbacks and committed fraud to sell fentanyl a highly addictive opioid that can lead to abuse and life threatening respiratory depression.
Number 3: Texas
In Texas many families and advocates were pushing for bill HB 2107. Over 70 representatives, 29 of which were Republicans, signed on as co-authors of the bill to expand the current Texas Compassionate Use Act.
Unfortunately, no action was taken on the bill by the House Calendars Committee and so it has essentially died for this session.
That being said the momentum and compassion may find its way to yet another bill HB 81 that would make possession of an ounce or less of marijuana a $250 civil fine and there would be no arrest. That’s significant improvement for Texas.
Number 4 New Jersey
New Jersey has a new cannabis activist organization founded by the former chief of staff to Governor Richard Codey. The New Jersey Cannabis Industry Association (NJCIA) will bring together industry leaders, medical professionals, and policy experts to build support for a cannabis economy in New Jersey.”
The organization feels New Jersey is poised to be the trailblazer for all sectors in the industry. In the coming months, the group intends to work to dispel the myths and false information surrounding the drug.
There is only one man stopping the recreational legalization of cannabis in New Jersey and he only has a couple of months left to the end of his term.
Number 5: Vermont
But out of all of these it’s Vermont that is the closest to becoming the next state to legalize marijuana for recreational use. The state legislature’s lower house voted 79-66 to allow adults 21 and older to possess 1 ounce and grow two mature plants, passing a bill the state Senate had already approved 20-9.
Penalty-free possession would take effect in July 2018 and the bill would establish a nine-member commission to study retail sales, something authorized in the other eight states with recreational legalization laws.
It’s now up to Republican Gov. Phil Scott to sign the bill. Scott has yet to say if he will sign and people around him say it could take weeks for him to decide.
Previously the Governor has said publicly he is not philosophically opposed, but he wants to make sure certain public safety and health questions are answered.
Interestingly the way it works in Vermont is the Governor has five days once it’s reached his desk to sign or veto the bill or it automatically becomes law. So it’s possible the governor may decide to do nothing and simply let the action take place without his endorsement.

What’s up Cannabis Growers and welcome back for another episode of GreenBox Grown!!! I just released a new tool on greenboxgrown.com which helps you diagnose your sick cannabis plants and shows you exactly what to do to cure them!
To visit this section, go to greenboxgrown.com and click on the Grow Videos Tab. From there you want to scroll down to Pests and Problems and click on that button. Scroll about half way down the page and you will see our deficiencies diagnosis section! You will notice that the most common marijuana growing problems are covered and we also show you how to cure them!
Before your visit this page to diagnose your sick cannabis plants, I recommend checking the pH of your growing medium for the sick plant. Most times when a cannabis plant is showing signs of a deficiency, it is because the grower is not watering at the correct pH.
When the growing medium is out of the correct pH range, it prevents the plant from absorbing any of the nutrients. This means you could be providing exactly all the right nutrients, but the plant is in the wrong pH range and cannot use them!
Once you have confirmed your pH is correct, you are ready to diagnose your sick cannabis plant. Just compare the symptoms showing on your plant and leaves, and compare them with the images listed here. Once you have found a match, click the image and you will be given more details on what to do next.
On this page you will receive two bits of very important information! First you will see what the signs are of this specific deficiency so you can properly diagnose your plant. Next, it will explain how to cure the problem as well as how to prevent it from happening again! You will also notice I have added products below the How to Cure section for some of the deficiency pages. That is because the cure sometimes requires those supplies, so I added them there for purchase on Amazon to make things easier on you!

Seeds and Resulting Genetics:
Many people, quite incorrectly, believe that the seeds that they obtain from a given plant are the exact same strain as the mother plant. This can be correct but is usually wrong.
When you obtain seeds from any given plant those seeds are not necessarily the same genetics as that plant and may not even be at the same ploidy level. For those who have read Secrets of the Pink Kush, you should already be familiar with these concepts.
The only way you will get the same strain is if you self it (S1), reverse it (R1) or have an interbred line (IBL). Selfing and reversing are done by using silver nitrate or colloidal silver to create male pollen sacs and then using that pollen on the same plant (S1) or another cloned plant from the same mother (R1). See Volume III of Secrets of the Pink Kush for details and procedures. S1 and R1 seeds are feminized and thus have deficient genetics in that they will have a tendency to become hermaphrodites. I do not like feminized seeds for this reason as well as other genetic reasons. Regular seeds are superior, you simply must take the time to sex them for quality plants.
If you are using an interbred line and especially a pure landrace indica or sativa then the resulting genetics will be the same. This is not true for hybrids as they will create different genetics based upon the probability distribution of Mendel’s Laws (see Secrets of the Pink Kush Volume I). For example, we just did some Texada Time Warp seeds. These seeds were grown outdoors and accidentally became seeded. These seeds are now being grown out and are all showing to be exactly the same. This is good news as IBLs are much better due to their consistency and should be more robust. Texada Time Warp is an old B.C. outdoor strain that has been around for 30 or 40 years or more. It was made famous by the hippie growers on Texada Island. It is good outdoor strain due to its shorter flowering time and high sativa genetic content. It appears to be a stabilized hybrid which is called an IBL.
The IBL when crossed with another IBL or pure strain such as sativa or pure indica should be good for creating a true filial generation 1 (F1) which means it should exhibit heterosis or hybrid vigour. Heterosis is nature’s way of providing a boost to the offspring of two divergent species. The children of the F1 (f2, f3, f4, etc.) will not exhibit heterosis. Heterosis means more vigorous growth, more robust and more potent. The F1 generation will also be stable in that all seeds will produce plants that appear to be an IBL but are not as they will not breed true. Their children will again conform to the probability distribution of Mendel’s Laws (Volume I of Secrets of the Pink Kush).
If you mating one ploidy level to a different ploidy level (see my polyploid formula in Volume III of Secrets of the Pink Kush) then the resulting genetics will be totally different. e.g. Diploid mated with a tetraploid will create a sterile triploid which will be more potent than the diploid but not as potent as the tetraploid. This is actually documented in Genesis 6:4 as the Bible was written by tetraploid humans who are much superior in size, strength and intelligence compared to us diploid humans. The same goes for plants.
I hope that helps in your understanding as this is a very difficult topic so please feel free to ask questions in my Cannabis Master Growers class on Facebook as I do not expect everybody to understand these concepts at first. Understanding these concepts is the key to making great strains that can be replicated and will retain their intended genetics. Is weed bad for you?
Depending on who you ask, weed is either a cancer fighting wonder drug, or the devil trying to corrupt us all. And since there’s 22 states considering changing their marijuana laws, we wanted to get to the bottom of the question – is weed really bad for you??

Now, before we get started on the biological impacts of what happens when you get high/ blaze/burn/light up/scroll/bake (scroll? really?)
Let’s break the potential down side into three sections. The brain, the lungs, and cancer.
First off – the brain.
It is assumed that the use of marijuana by teenagers is harmful to brain development – the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) warns teens in particular to avoid marijuana as their little brains are still developing.
And weed’s main psychoactive ingredient THC definitely does act on the brain – it mimics the brain’s natural endocannabinoids, which regulate our physiological functions, such as appetite, pain, memory and mood. Now anything that affects the brain’s chemistry should be used very carefully -our brain is a well regulated machine and it is a bad idea to fu** with that system – for example if you take away our brains ability to regulate appetite you can get the munchies – which is why there’s a stereotype of the fat stoner.
But is smoking weed actually damaging your brain? Well your brain does adjust to anything you put into it, but to date, the studies that I’ve seen haven’t been able to prove any serious long term effects on the brain itself from moderate marijuana consumption. So on the danger spectrum with fatty foods here and heroin here, I’d say weed is definitely somewhere in THIS category.
Ok so the lungs. if we look at lung health – There is a huge disagreement about whether or not marijuana smoke is harmful to the lungs. For example, according to a 2014 study, there is no difference in the breathing of those who do not smoke at all and those who smoke marijuana regularly. But Lung.org contests that all smoke is harmful to the lungs. Basically, there is no clear, demonstrable evidence that pot-heads have anymore difficulty breathing than the average non-user.
Interestingly, there may be reason to believe that marijuana smoke actually has a *positive* effect on lung health (and I’m not joking). Though the causes are very unclear, there is research from a Nature Partner Journal to suggest that Forced Vital Capacity, the amount of air you can force yourself to hold, sees an overall increase in recreational marijuana-smokers – assuming they don’t smoke tobacco products as well.
Though the the American Lung Association continues to push for more research into this, and they should, the data suggests that there isn’t too much harm to the lungs as far as marijuana smoke goes.
And now Cancer
So we know that tobacco smoking can give you cancer, so is week smoking ALSO going to cause cancer?
If you look at the research so far, it looks like it’s actually the opposite – marijuana can save lives by helping cancer patients eat and sleep and recover quicker from the effects of cancer treatments. There is also *some* evidence that suggests marijuana may actually actually kill cancer cells! As this article on cancer.gov states: “cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow.” But as they say: more research is needed.
