As the name suggests, a grow house is typically a residential house, where all available space is being used to grow cannabis.

Acting Sergeant Tim Stephens from ACT Policing’s Major Crime Squad said that would mean in a four-bedroom house, all four bedrooms, and possibly the living room and another storage room would be being used to grow cannabis.

That would likely be done using heat lamps, water pumps and “all sorts of other technology”.

In the past 18 months, police say they’ve dismantled 13 grow houses in Canberra, and seized 2,500 cannabis plants.
