Massive 60 acre cannabis growing operation

SpeakEasy Cannabis founder Marc Geen oversees what could be the largest legal cannabis growing operation in Canada.

Join us on an exclusive tour of Speakeasy Cannabis Club, located in Rock Creek, where innovation meets agriculture on a grand scale. This video showcases the impressive 60-acre outdoor cannabis farm, one of the largest in Canada, highlighting the unique approach Speakeasy takes towards cannabis cultivation. Unlike the conventional indoor grow operations, Speakeasy capitalizes on the natural, arid climate of the South Okanagan, which is perfect for growing not just cannabis, but also ginseng and cherries.

Discover how Speakeasy blends traditional farming practices with modern cannabis production, emphasizing sustainability, efficiency, and the vast potential of outdoor cultivation. From the strategic selection of the location, leveraging the ideal climate and water resources, to the anticipation of harvesting all 60 acres by mid-October, this video provides a comprehensive look into the future of cannabis farming.

Speakeasy’s commitment to maintaining flexibility in its product offerings, whether for flower, pre-rolls, or blended products, reflects the dynamic nature of the cannabis market. This video is a must-watch for anyone interested in the evolving landscape of cannabis cultivation, agricultural innovation, and the remarkable journey of a family transitioning from cherries to cannabis.

Seed to Strain: Pinkman Goo

In this episode of Seed to Strain we meet Twompson Prater the creator of Pinkman Goo, an Indica strain with 18 percent THC.

Prater says he is a child of the cannabis business. Growing up, his father had glaucoma and his mother had battled and beat cancer. Prater’s childhood memories include days playing in the marijuana fields of Northern California.

Marijuana offered medicinal relief to his parents, but it was the science that drew Prater to the plant.

Throughout high school and college Prater focused on math, science, and physics.

Pink Man Goo came to life with the help of Prater’s sister, who found three marijuana seeds in a tin can behind the refrigerator of their home.

The “goo” is resin that has seeped from the leaves of the cannabis plant. It’s so rare to see something like this that the strain has astonished even the most seasoned growers in the industry.

Is marijuana bad for your brain? – Anees Bahji

Explore how marijuana’s two main active compounds, THC and CBD, affect your brain and body, and what risk factors to watch out for.

In 1970, marijuana was classified as a schedule 1 drug in the United States: the strictest designation possible, meaning it was completely illegal and had no recognized medical uses. Today, marijuana’s therapeutic benefits are widely acknowledged, but a growing recognition for its medical value doesn’t answer the question: is recreational marijuana use bad for your brain? Anees Bahji investigates.

Marijuana Scary Facts Story : Side Effects of Marijuana ( Weed ) in 2019

Marijuana, Is it Good or Bad?

There’s a lot of debate about marijuana, with those who smoke weed insisting that it makes them more intelligent, and that there are countless benefits to smoking weed. Let’s take a balanced look at whether marijuana is really helpful or harmful to a person.

To start with, let’s look at the positive effects of smoking weed
We’ll be disregarding the legal issues surrounding smoking weed here, and will directly focus upon the actual effects of weed. Many of the effects are similar to those caused by other substances that produce ‘highs’.

A person smoking weed may feel a sense of euphoria, and may also feel extremely relaxed. If they are anxious about issues in their life, this anxiety decreases. A person might also become more uninhibited socially, and may talk and laugh in a very relaxed manner, all of which seems to be reasonably positive.

Users also say that they experience an enhancement to the senses, with some of the senses seeming to be extremely accentuated.

While these things are positive, there are also some negative factors directly associated with these seemingly positive effects
For example, the decrease in anxiety about issues that affect one’s everyday life might act solely as a sort of social and psychological anesthetic. Meaning, that the issues might actually be real and smoking marijuana can become a sort of avoidance of those very real issues. This could eventually result in the destruction of a person’s career and lifestyle over time.

While the stress and anxiety the world can place upon an individual are certainly not positive, smoking marijuana as a response to these things becomes a vicious cycle.

There are a great many more positive responses possible, such as choosing a less-stressful career path, even if it pays less, and spending time in activities in the open air, or communing with nature.

These things are seen to reduce anxiety quite as much as smoking marijuana.

It is also true that people can exhibit enhanced social interaction after smoking marijuana, laughing and talking easily with friends.

Unfortunately, if marijuana is used as a response to inhibitions in society, those inhibitions become permanent – in that a person can then only interact with other people effectively when under the influence of marijuana.

Since, at such a point, one is only interacting with other smokers of marijuana, it doesn’t really make for effective social interaction on a larger scale.

At least, not unless the entire world is stoned on weed.

There are also certain extremely disturbing effects noticed in marijuana users

These effects involve concentration and memory, both of which are severely affected, and which can affect one’s ability to function effectively in the world outside ‘marijuana use’.

Other than this, in the initial stages, there are very few side-effects, but if use escalates over time, the number of side effects also escalates and can include a host of mental and physical conditions.

Marijuana, also known as cannabis, among other names, is a preparation of the Cannabis sativa plant – the hemp plant, intended for recreational and medicinal uses.
The main psychoactive chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydro-cannabinol, or THC. The Cannabis plant preparation also contains other compounds that are chemically related to THC, called cannabinoids.
THC is chemically similar to a class of substances found naturally in our nervous system called endogenous cannabinoids, or endocannabinoids, of which anandamide is best known so far. The endocannabinoids are part of a newly discovered system named the Endocannabinoid system, or ECS.
How the ECS works
The ECS acts as a modulator of neurotransmission.
When the postsynaptic neuron is activated, endocannabinoids are produced, released, and travel back to the presynaptic neuron where they activate cannabinoid receptors. By doing so, they control what happens next when the presynaptic cell is again stimulated. The general effect is a decrease in the release of neurotransmitters such as GABA or glutamate. In other words, the ECS acts as a “brake”, slowing down neuronal activities, preventing neurons from excessive firing.
Some examples of ECS functions include:
– Pain modulation: cannabinoids suppress pain signal processing, producing pain relief effects.
– Stress and anxiety reduction: The ECS has been implicated in the habituation the body’s response to repeated exposure to restraint stress.
– Mood regulation: the ECS promotes “good feeling” by inducing dopamine release in the brain reward pathway. This explains the euphoria, or the “high”, experienced by marijuana users. THC mode of action is however different from other drugs: it induces dopamine release INDIRECTLY by removing inhibitory action of GABA on dopaminergic neurons.
The ECS is also involved in many more bodily activities, including appetite, memory, learning, sleeping patterns, immune functions and fertility.
So how can marijuana be harmful if it does exactly what our body already does to itself?
The endocannabinoids are short-acting transmitter substances. They are synthesized on demand and their signaling is rapidly terminated by specific enzymes. Marijuana users consume a much higher amount of THC. THC is also much more stable and can persist in the body for a longer period of time.
THC overwhelms the EC system, overriding normal brain functions. Because cannabinoid receptors are present in many parts of the brain and body, the effects of THC are wide-ranging. It can slow down a person’s reaction time, which could impair driving or athletic skills; disrupt short-term memory and higher thought processes, which could affect learning capabilities and judgment ability. Higher doses of THC may also lead to reverse effects. Consuming marijuana by smoking may also damage the lungs to a similar extent as smoking cigarettes.
Long – term effects of THC
Substantial evidence from animal research indicates that marijuana exposure can cause long-term adverse changes in the brain. Long-term effects of marijuana in human are still debatable mostly due to difficulties of conducting research in human beings.
Medical uses of marijuana
While recreational use of marijuana is without doubt harmful, the Cannabis plant may be a valuable source of medicines. Currently, the two main cannabinoids from the marijuana plant that are of medical interest are THC and cannabidiol, or CBD. These chemicals are used to increase appetite and reduce nausea in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy. They may also be useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures, and possibly even treating autoimmune diseases and cancers.
